This blog gets its name from the Auden poem The Fall of Rome.
Caesar’s double-bed is warm
As an unimportant clerk
Writes I DO NOT LIKE MY WORK
On a pink official form.
My name is Kevin Nolan. I’m a writer, not a clerk. I like my work.
I’ll use this pink official form to post musings, mini-essays, photos, rants, and writing that fits nowhere else.
I quote from The Fall of Rome because I admire the poem, and a few lines have always stuck with me, probably because they describe the era we’re living in right now:
Private rites of magic send
The temple prostitutes to sleep;
All the literati keep
An imaginary friend.
